Pain & Suffering Calculator
Estimate the non-economic damages portion of your insurance claim using both the multiplier method and per diem method — the same approaches used by adjusters and attorneys.
Estimates only — not legal advice
Pain and suffering values vary enormously based on jurisdiction, judge or jury tendencies, the strength of your evidence, and negotiation. This calculator provides a general range — consult an attorney for case-specific valuation.
Tell us about your injuries
ER visits, doctor appointments, imaging, physical therapy, prescriptions, etc.
Ongoing therapy, planned surgeries, long-term medication.
Sprains, concussion, broken fingers/toes, moderate pain for months.
Some activities limited — difficulty with exercise, hobbies, or housework.
Two methods, one goal: fair compensation
Insurance adjusters and attorneys use these two primary methods
Multiplier Method
Multiplies your total medical expenses by a factor of 1.5x to 7x depending on injury severity. This is the most common method used by insurance companies. Higher multipliers are justified by more severe injuries, longer recovery, and greater impact on quality of life.
Per Diem Method
Assigns a daily dollar value to your pain and suffering for each day from the accident until you reach maximum medical improvement (MMI). The daily rate is often based on your daily earnings. This method tends to produce higher values for long-recovery injuries.
